SHRIMPS' keeper Barry Roche says talks over a new contract are at an advanced stage.

The popular stopper, who has enjoyed two excellent seasons with the Shrimps, is out of contract at the end of the season and says he hopes to be able to update fans on his position soon.

Talking on BBC Radio Lancashire on Thursday night, Roche said: "We have been talking for a while. Things went quiet for a bit but we have moved things on and I hope to have something done soon.

"I am settled here and really enjoy being at the club. The team spirit is brilliant and to still be in with a shout of a play-off place at this stage of the season is great.''
