Morecambe Res 3, Rochdale Res 3
The Shrimps' Reserves produced an excellent fightback to earn a share of the spoils against Rochdale in the totesport.com League Cup at Christie Park tonight.
Morecambe trailed 3-1 at half time but two second half goals from Aaron Taylor earned a young side a deserved share of the spoils.
Jeff Udall's team dominated the early stages and Matty Blinkhorn gave the home side a fifth minute lead. The returning striker then blazed over the bar from 10 yards before Taylor was unlucky to see a snapshot hit a post.
From there Rochdale scored three goals in quick succession with Dennis Sheriff scoring twice and the experienced Lee McEvilly curling an effort past Scott Davies on the stroke of half time.
Morecambe produced a fine comeback in the second half with Taylor bagging a brace with goals on 61 and 75 minutes. The Shrimps then went close on several occasions through substitutes Christian Sawicki and Danny Bell who both had good games.
