A last minute goal from Michael Twiss earned the Shrimps' second string an excellent point at Bamber Bridge's QED stadium.
Preston took the lead after an own goal by Morecambe defender James Tabernam but the Shrimps hit back in the second half through Aaron Taylor.
North End then took the lead again with a goal from Neil Dougan before Twiss grabbed an equaliser in the final minute of play deny the home side the three points.
Shrimps' keeper Scott Davies was the busier of the two in the early stages with saves from Adam Barton and Jamie Proctor before Taylor forced Dominic Corrie into a fine save from a Twiss corner. The North End keeper also did well to block from Matty Poole just after the half hour.
North End got the breakthrough on 40 minutes when a cross from the right by Mayor was turned into his own net by
defender Tabernam.
The Shrimps hit back on 57 minutes when Taylor kept his cool to latch on to a long ball and round Comrie.
On 87 minutes winger Dougan North End 2-1 up and looked to have secured the victory. But as the game came to a close
a free kick found Wayne Curtis, who played the ball into the path of Twiss who tapped in at the back post.
