Profile
Lee Colkin signed for Morecambe from Hednesford Town upon their relegation from the Conference in 2001. Colkin settled into the left back position with ease and began producing the form that made him a fan favourite at Hednesford.
He gave Morecambe a new dimension when it came to attacking as he was equally as comfortable making runs down the left wing as he was playing in his more familiar left back role. Despite his ability to get forward and support the attack Colkin never scored for Morecambe in his two seasons with the club.
Colkin began the 2002/2003 season as first choice left back and was an almost ever present until the FA Cup 3rd Round tie at Ipswich in early January. An injury in that game gave young full back David Perkins an opportunity to stake a claim to the left back slot. Perkins excellent form in Colkins absense meant that he was installed as the first choice left back and Colkin only made one more appearance all season against Yeovil Town in the FA Trophy. He was one of four players to be released by the club at the end of the season.
During his time with the club he established himself as a fan favourite due to his never say die attitude on the pitch and his extreme friendliness towards the fans off it.
