Steven was signed on loan after first team goalkeeper Ryan Robinson picked up an injury in the LDV Vans Trophy game against Bradford City.

A product of Blackburn Rovers' youth academy, Drench has represented England at schoolboy and under 17's level.

Drench's form whilst on loan from Blackburn saw him keep out Ryan Robinson for the remainder of the season and upon his release from Rovers he signed for Morecambe on a permanent basis.

The 2006/2007 season was Drench have a fantastic season which ended up with him picking up a host of awards at the end of the season including supporters player of the year.

Despite his excellent season he unfortunately missed out on Morecambe's playoff final victory at Wembley as he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the semi final against York City. Scott Davies replaced him in the semi and played the full 90 minutes against Exeter City in the final.
