Eastwood was signed in the summer of 1999 after being released by Burnely where he made 18 appearances. During his time with Burnley he had been loaned out to three non league sides in the form of Leek, Telford United and Kettering so he was no stranger to the non league game when he signed for the Shrimps.
In his first season with Morecambe he formed a tremendous strike force with Justin Jackson that gave Morecambe their highest ever league finish at that time, third behind league champions Kidderminster Harriers and runners up Rushden & Diamonds.
With the departure of Justin Jackson to Rushden the following summer, Eastwood had to adapt to life without his strike partner from the successfull 1999/2000 season. Despite a relatively good season for the striker, that saw him score 10 league goals in a season where Morecambe finished just two points above the relegation zone, he was dropped down the pecking order with Jim Harvey favouring John Norman, Robbie Talbot, Ian Arnold and Mark Quayle over Eastwood for the start of the 2001/2002 season.
After failing to hold down a regular place in the first team he departed to Southport in October for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of a couple of thousand pounds. |
