Fensome signed for Morecambe from local rivals Barrow having started his career at Norwich City and previously played for Newcastle United, Cambridge United and Rochdale.

He was a steady performer for the Shrimps throughout his time at Christie Park and even picked up the player of the year award for the 2000/2001 season.

Despite making regular appearances for Morecambe he never actually got on the score sheet although he came close on a number of occasions including a brilliant long range drive against his former club Cambridge United in the FA Cup 2nd Round in the 2000/2001 season.

He was released at the end of 2001/2002 season and later signed for Lancaster City in the Unibond Premier League.
