Martyn Giles joined the club in November 2003 after having a short spell in the League of Wales with Port Talbot Town.

The former Welsh U19 international had to wait for the transfer window to open in January before he could start playing for Morecambe as his transfer was considered an international one seeing as his last club were registered with the Welsh FA.

Giles never played league game for the club but he did make a number of reserve team appearances and twice played in the Lancashire Marsden Trophy.

He was described as a John Hardiker type player by manager Jim Harvey but he never realised this potential and he left the club to return to his native Wales.
