Profile
The experienced Chris Lightfoot came to Morecambe in the summer of 2001 from Crewe Alexandra. He started his career at Chester City, also played for Wigan Athletic and had a brief loan spell at Oldham Atheltic.
Lightfoot could never really settle into one position at the club and made several appearances at both centre back and centre midfield. He scored a brilliant volley against Telford United at the start of the 2001/2002 season in a 2-1 victory for the Shrimps.
His biggest achievement whilst at Morecambe was scoring two goals away at Harrogate Railway Athletic in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round in a game that Morecambe won 3-2. The victory set up a tie at 2nd Division Brentford where Morecambe were unlucky to be beaten 1-0.
Despite his excellent Football League pedigree he never really performed to the fans and managers expectations and he wasn't offered a new contract at the end of the 2001/2002 season. He went on to sign for Runcorn.
