Paul was promoted to the first team squad in the Summer of 2005 after an impressive season in the reserve team.

Lloyd joined Bamber Bridge on loan in January 2007 and upon his return he began to break his way into the first team, scoring goals against Cambridge United, Forest Green Rovers and Grays Athletic.

With Garry Thompson injured he found himself in the starting lineup for the playoff semi final second leg against York City at Christie Park, a sign of Sammy McIlroy's faith in the youngsters ability.

Lloyd was rewarded with a one year contract for Morecambe's first season as a football league club.
