Profile
With Adriano Rigoglioso's departure to Doncaster Rovers in November 2003 Jim Harvey needed a replacement to play in the special role just behind the lone striker in a formation that had seen Morecambe achieve huge success in the previous season.
Terry McFlynn, a man who Harvey had worked with at international level with Northern Ireland, was identified as the ideal replacement for Rigoglioso and after a fine performance against Morecambe for Margate the club splashed out £14,000 for McFlynn's services.
His debut couldn't have been a better one, producing a man of the match performance and scoring against Stevenage Borough in a 2-1 victory that put an end to Morecambe's run of 9 games without a win.
Big things were expected from McFlynn after Jim Harvey described his debut performance as an average display for the Northern Ireland U21 international but he failed to reproduce that display on a regular basis and he found himself in and out of the team.
A fantastic display on the right side of midfield in the second leg of the Lancashire Marsden Trophy final against Accrington Stanley at Christie Park showed the talent that he has.
Unfortunately McFlynn was unable to cement a place in the Morecambe midfield for the 2004/2005 season and he was transfer listed by Jim Harvey in December. McFlynn was later released and he moved to Australia.
