Profile
The long serving McKearney joined the club in the Summer of 1996 from Chorley having previously had a successful career in the Football League with Bolton Wanderers, Crewe Alexandra and Wigan Athletic.
Macca spent much of his Morecambe career playing in the centre of defence but towards the end of his time at the club he was mostly used as a full back.
McKearney is also fully capable of playing in the centre of midfield when needs be and has chipped in with his fair share of goals whilst playing in that position.
His form for Morecambe has twice earned him call ups to the England Semi Pro side who he represented in 1996 and 1999.
His invaluable experience in the Football League also saw McKearney awarded the captains armband in the past. Macca was rewarded for his efforts in Morecambe's best ever league campaign in 2002/2003 with a one year extension to his contract but was released the following year and went on to sign for Burscough.
