Neil Sorvel joined Morecambe towards the end of January 2007 on a deal that would see him remain at Christie Park until May 2008.

Upon his signing manager Sammy McIlroy commented, "I am delighted to have added Neil to the squad, he brings a lot of experience with him having played in the Football League with Crewe Alexandra and Shrewsbury Town and was part of the successful Macclesfield Town side that twice won the Football Conference. His presence in the team should help carry us through the remainder of the season and consolidate a play-off place."

Sammy was right as Neil became an integral part of Morecambe's midfield and helped the Shrimps on their way to victory at Wembley and promotion to the Football League.
