Report: MK Dons 2-0 Shrimps

23 April 2022

MK Dons 2-0 Morecambe
Sky Bet League One
Stadium MK
Saturday 23 April 2022
Kick-Off: 3:00pm
Attendance: 10,121 (401 Shrimps)

Two goals either side of the break from Harry Darling and Daniel Harvie respectively enough to hand automatic promotion chasing MK Dons all three points at Stadium MK.

With six minutes of the game gone, the home side had the chance to fire on goal after Shrimps defender Liam Gibson gave a free-kick away. Darling took aim from about 30-yards out but his effort was over the bar via a deflection.

Darling would not be denied however, his solo run from inside his own half saw him evade the away side defenders before turning and getting his right-footed shot away, which took a nick off a post on its way into the back of Trevor Carson’s goal.

Half-time: MK Dons 1-0 Morecambe

Scott Twine was at the centre of everything for the hosts and came close to scoring his 17th goal of the Sky Bet League One season 13 minutes into the second-half, he took aim from outside the box, but Carson made a great save to deny him.

With 10 minutes left of the affair, the home side doubled their lead. After advancing in-field Harvie tried his luck from outside the box, his effort took a slight deflection off Rhys Bennett and found its way into the back of the net.

Carson was called upon four minutes later as Kaine Kesler-Hayden found himself through on goal, but the right-leg of the Northern Irish international denied the Dons man from close range.
