Boss delighted with award
THE Shrimps have won their first award of the season. The club has today been notified that it has been awarded the Football Association's League 2 Fair Play Award for Season 2011-2much to the delight of manager Jim Bentley. The award is given to the club with the least number of disciplinary points against them for field events which includes bookings and sendings off. Each disciplinary event carries a different weighting). With the award itself, which will be presented at a future game, comes a grant of £10,000 which is to be sued for the benefit of the club's youth side or community programme. Chief Executive, Rod Taylor, said: "This is a great feather in everyone's cap, and somthing that the players and management canbe especially proud of. It is testament to the influence of Jim Bentley and Ken McKenna on the players.'' Bentley said: "It's an outstanding achievement and I'm really pleased for everyone at the club. The players have been a credit to the club and I can't praise them enough.''
