Morecambe 2 Preston North End 0

Morecambe started their preseason campaign in earnest  under bright sunshine at The Globe Arena with a fine win against League One opposition Preston North End, their opponents in the first of five tough matches, which will see them take on Bury, Bolton, Sheffield United, and Carlisle United before their opening League Two Fixture at Exeter on 18th August.
Goals from strikers Jordan Burrow and Danny Carlton sealed a fine win against what seemed to be an ill spirited Preston Side.
A fairly even first  half saw Kevin Ellison provide the first real chance of thegame in the 8th minute, with a first time left footed 25 yard volley hit just wide of Stuckmann's upright.
Lee Trundle went closer for Preston five minutes later from a well executed 25 yard free kick which dipped just over the bar. some heated exchanges and one or two late tackles were unexpected in a preseason friendly, with Mousinho and Ellison almost coming to blows.
Andy Fleming, back after injury last season, delivered a delightful ball through for Jordan Burrow in the 26th minute, but the youngster snatched at it too quickly and drove wide of the left post from the edge of the18 yard box. Andy Wright tested Thuckmann in the 35th minute with a well driven free kick after Alessandra was brought down, but Thuckmann had it well covered.
North End's David Amoo went closest in the 42nd minute, when he drove an excellent left footed shot from 20 yards, which forced Roche to tip over the bar.
The second half started with a substitution for The Shrimps, former North End star, Youl Mawene, replacing Nick Fenton with the North End Faithful cheering his every kick.
Jordan Burrow opened the scoring in the 49th minute, with a great header inside the six yard box from an excellent cross on the right flank provided by Lewis Alessandra.
Mousinho was involved again in an exchange with Stewart Drummond when things threatened to boil over again when Mousinho lashed out at Drummond. Soon after, Richard Brodie made his debut replacing goalscorer jordan Burrow in the 66th minute.
In the75th minute Preston had a rare shot at goal, but Chris Robertson misfired his first time volley well wide, six yards out from Byrom's cross field ball.
Four minutes later Will Hayhurst had the visitors first shot on target of the half and comfortably saved by Roche.
Stewart Drummond was brought down in the Preston half and Brodie's quick thinking saw the striker shoot from 18 yards first time, but his shot came back off the far post only to have been ruled offside. Preston continued to put in some heavy challenges in an ill tempered game. at times.
But newly proud dad Danny Carlton sealed Morecambe's victory in the 86th minute, with a superb finish inside the six yard box on the turn, from Dan Parkinson's cross from the right flank.
