Shrimps and Rochdale face cup replay
MORECAMBE and Rochdale will fight it out again for a place in the second round after an FA Cup draw at the Globe Arena. The hosts were brighter in the opening 15 minutes and opened the scoring when the Dale defence allowed Andy Fleming to advance forward before picking his spot with a low drive beyond Josh Lillis.
Jack Redshaw, the former Dale striker who scored both goals in the Shrimps recent 2-1 win at Spotland, was denied by Lillis when he met Nick Fenton’s ball over the top.
But Dale improved after that with former Accrington striker Bobby Grant causing all sorts of problems. Grant forced the excellent Barry Roche into two fine saves in quick succession before curling another set piece against the crossbar.
The Shrimps started the second half sharply with Redshaw stabbing a close range effort wide after being put through on goal and Rochdale again took charge.
