Massive blow for striker
STRIKER Danny Carlton has been ruled out of action for about seven months after suffering cruciate ligament damage at Bristol Rovers on Saturday. The front man came off the bench during the 3-0 win at the Memorial Stadium but had to leave the field a few minutes later after pulling up with the injury.
A meeting with the Shrimps' medical team on Sunday confirmed that Carlton had suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament which will need surgery.
Boss Jim Bentley said he was "Devastated'' by the news.
He said: "It's a massive blow for Danny and for us. He was looking sharp in training and was doing well on Saturday when he came on but pulled up with the injury which is one that most players dread.
"I'm absolutely devastated for him because he probably won't be back in contention to February or April at the earliest and that is a blow for him and for us as we have such a small squad anyway.''
