Development centre trials

25 September 2012

Calling all talented Under 8s and 9s

THTHE Shrimps are holding the first of a series of trials for their development centre this week.

The club is holding trials for the Under 8 and Under 9 age groups Wednesday, September 26 and Wednesday, October 3, at the Globe Arena on the Astroturf pitches, between 5-6pm.

The club has seen one of its Under 12 players. Greg McCaragher, progress from the Morecambe development centre to Manchester City where he is now on trial for their Academy.

Michael Stringfellow, who oversees the centre for the club, said: “We’ve had Greg at the Development Centre for over 12 months and he’s gone from strength to strength as a young footballer, catching the eye of all the teams we have played.

“We are sad to lose him from the centre, but we are delighted that he has this opportunity to progress and fulfil his full potential.  Whatever happens, we’d like to wish Greg the best of luck in the future and I’m sure we have provided the right coaching environment for Greg to develop.’’

He added: “Our Vision is to develop an environment that is conductive to maximising individual player potential.  We aim to achieve our vision by selecting young players with talent and providing them with an environment to develop their technical, tactical and physical needs and also maximising psychological and social skills.’’

Players can register on the night from 4.30pm onwards.  There will be trials for other age groups in the future.  Please contact Michael Stringfellow for more information via email on developmentcentre@morecambefc.com.
