Late goals sink Shrimps

THE Shrimps squandered a two goal lead to suffer a third successive home defeat.
Morecambe looked set to celebrate their 50th league game at the Globe with  victory when they were 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go but it all went wrong as they shipped three late goals to sink to a third successive home defeat.
Morecambe had the best possible start when they went a goal up after just three minutes when Jack Redshaw scored his second in two games with a great finish after robbing Darren Purse of possession down the left hand side before slipping the ball under Jake Cole from an acute angle.
Plymouth hit back with Conor Hourihane seeing his effort saved by the legs of Barry Roche. The visitors then had the better of the possession but were restricted to long range efforts from Alex McDonald and Robbie Williams.
The Shrimps survived an early second half onslaught with Roche saving superbly from Williams’s free kick and Ellison heading a Darren Purse header off the line before the home side went 2-0 up. Substitute Richard Brodie, who came on for the injured Redshaw, was felled in the box by Durrell Berry to win a penalty which he converted past Cole.
Cole was then fortunate to spill an Izak Reid shot but see the ball spin inches wide of his left hand post before the visitors came back into the game with a stunning strike from Ross Jenkins who fired a volley past Roche from 25 yards.
That inspired Argyle who upped a gear and won a penalty when Reid was unfortunate to handle an Alex McDonald right wing cross and Warren Feeney slotted home the spot kick.
The referee was then forced to point to the spot for a third time when Andy Parrish brought down Paris Cowan-Hall with a rash challenge and Feeney kept his cool again to score and complete a remarkable turnaround.
