Reserves suffer second defeat

MORECAMBE Reserves suffered a second successive Central League Cup defeat when they went down 5-0 to Tranmere at the Globe Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Shrimps got off to the worst possible start when they conceded after just three minutes when Tranmere striker Cole Stockton controlled well on the edge of the box and drilled a sweet right foot shot past Andreas Arestidou.

Rovers looked set for a second moments later when Joe Conchie broke free of his marker but was denied superbly by Aresitdou.

Stewart Drummond’s youngsters then enjoyed a spell of dominance with Kieran Sloan twice firing over and Lewis Alessandra just failing to get on the end of a Joe Mwasile’s right wing cross.

The second half saw the more experienced Tranmere take the upper hand again and they scored three times.

Arestidou was forced into two superb saves from Conchie and Kirkby before the visitors scored three times to clinch victory.
