Brave youngsters go down fighting

A YOUNG Reserves team went down to a narrow defeat at the Globe this evening.
Agaiunt an experienced Burton side  the Shrimps started brightly and took the lead after just nine minutes. Ed Gate worked an opening down the right and crossed to the far post for Sam Houghton to drill a low shot past visiting keeper Sam Hornby.
Unfortunately the lead lasted just three minutes as the Brewers pulled one back through Jimmy Phillips. The experienced wide man ran into the box and made the most of a fortunate rebound before producing a neat low finish past Morecambe keeper Jack Cookson.
The game then swung from end to end with Morecambe's youngsters playing some neat football without creating any clear cut chances.
Burton looked dangerous going forward and however and took the lead with a second goal of real quality. Dominic Knowles shared a neat one two on the edge of the Morecambe box with Ade Yussuf before finishing past Cookson.
The Shrimps' keeper produced a superb save to deny Burton a third before the break.
The second half produced few clear chances with Yussuf coming closest for the visitors to scoring.
The Shrimps fielded four young trialists who all enjoyed good evenings.
* THE Reserves are at home again next Monday when they face Walsall.
