Boss full of praise after Exeter win

26 August 2013

Great team performance says Bentley

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was full of praise for two goal hero Kevin Ellison as he helped the Shrimps to their first win of the season on Saturday.
Ellison provided two clinical finishes in the second half to give Jim Bentley’s side a timely boost ahead of the Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle on Wednesday.
Bentley said: “Kev’s 34 now but someone who you just can’t keep down.
“People might look at his age and wonder what he is capable of but he is just a top professional.
“He came back for pre season even fitter and sharper than ever and we missed him after he picked up an injury on the opening day at Wycombe. I was delighted to have him available again and I hope he can keep up the sort of form he showed in this game all season.''
He added: "Kev will grab the headlines but the pleasing thing for me is that it was a great all round team performance. The defence looked solid and made some great blocks, the midfield linked well and up front Jack Sampson worked his socks off and provided two assists.
"He deserved a goal to be fair and it seems like his first half header crossed the line by some way from the reaction of Exeter's own fans but if he continues to play like he did the goals will come.''
