Boss may make changes

30 August 2013

Busy week may see squad rotated

Jim Bentley said he could make changes to his side as they prepare for the visit of Plymouth on Saturday.

Bentley said that the exertions of two games a week could see him use his squad as they look for a second successive league win.

He said: “It’s a squad game and we haven’t got the biggest of squads but at the moment with only Jack Redshaw’s injury we’re quite alright for numbers.

“We might shake it up a little bit.”

The game was also played a day later than the Shrimps’ usual midweek clashes, with Bentley hoping his side can recover in time to pick up three important league points against the Pilgrims.

He said: “It’s difficult because usually we play on a Tuesday then a Saturday but we’ve got a day less this time.

“They’ve had two tough games against Exeter and Newcastle but we’ll make sure we recover right and have a little meeting to see what’s what.

“After the Wolves game (in the first round of the Capital One Cup) we were great for 30 minutes against Torquay and then we went the other way.

“We’ve got to make sure we go out from minute one on Saturday in another difficult game with the same intensity and desire and belief and really make it difficult for a very good Plymouth side.”

After the victory against Exeter Bentley is hoping to keep the league momentum going on Saturday but knows it will be tough against John Sheridan’s side.

He said: “It’s a massive game for us.

“We want to get our league campaign going and with three points we’re up to seven which isn’t a bad return out of 15.

“But we never underestimate anyone and Plymouth are a massive club at this level.

“John Sheridan knows the league inside out and they’ve got good players there and have strengthened in the summer.

“They started a little bit ropey but they’ve won the last couple of games.

“They’ve got a couple of danger players that we know all about, it’s a big challenge but one we’re looking forward and hopefully we can come away with a victory.”
