Good win for strong second team

MORECAMBE Reserves recorded a solid Central League Cup victory over Tranere Rovers tonight.
Two goals from Joe Mwasile earned the Shrimps the win in a game that saw some excellent individual performances.
The Shrimps took the lead in the 14th minute with Mwasile’s first goal. A ball was cut across the edge of the Tranmere area and the front man took it into his stride and fired a right foot shot past Luke Pilling from 12 yards out.
A strong Morecambe side played some neat football but Tranmere threatened on the break and Andreas Arestidou was forced into an excellent save from Joe Newton low to his right. The ball rebounded to Liam Davies but he could only hit the post from six yards out when he looked sure to score.
Mwasile came close to a second on 25 minutes with a looping header that forced Pilling into a superb save to stop the ball from reaching the top corner.
Tranmere hit back with Arestidou again saving martly from Newton and was in top form again to spread himself smartly to save from Jago who had a free run on goal.
The Morecambe keeper was rewarded for his efforts when the Shrimps added a second on 70 minutes when Mwasile doubled his tally with a smarty diving header from close range.
Will Bell almost made it three when he volleyed a Joe McGee corner against the post but the Shrimps had to settle for the 2-0 scoreline.
