Boss looks ahead to Aldershot

11 February 2013

Win is vital says boss

JIM Bentley says Tuesday's match against Aldershot is a massive one for his side.
A win would take the Shrimps 12 points clear of the Shots and move them closer to securing their spot in League 2 for another season.
A defeat would see the gap reduced to six points between the clubs and Bentley says it could be a season defining 90 minutes.
He said: "If we can get the win it will really help our cause.
"I have talked about the mini league in the bottom half of the table and these are the sort of games you must not lose as you don't want to give anyone below you any advantage.
"It won’t be easy though because Aldershot need the points and will be desperate to get something tonight after slipping into the bottom two at the weekend.
"I have to say I am really surprised to see them where they are because I think they have a really good manager and some excellent players and for me it shows how strong this league is this year when a team with their quality is at the wrong end of the table.
"I think at the start of the season they were a few people’s outside bets because they recruited well but it hasn’t worked out that way so far and they will be going all out to win as teams like Plymouth and Bristol Rovers at the bottom have started to turn things round.
"We have to see Saturday’s defeat as a blip and return to form tonight because the sooner you get back to winning ways the better. Two wins away saw us leap up the table and likewise two defeats could see us go the other way.''
