Superb win for the Shrimps

MORECAMBE sealed their third win in four games with a superb victory at Vale Park.

Alessandra made the most of a mistake from home keeper Chris Neal who dropped a Gary McDonald cross into the path of the striker who made no mistake from six yards out.
Lewis Alessandra gave the Shrimps a shock win over title chasing Port Vale with the only goal of the game just after the hour..

From there it was all Port Vale with Morecambe reduced to 10 men when Andy Wright handed a red card for a second yellow 18 minutes from time.

The Valiants then bombarded the Morecambe goal with Tom Pope seeing a header cleared off the line by Gary McDonald and Barry Roche forced into a string of fine saves.

Port Vale’s impressive left back Daniel Jones then drilled two long range efforts narrowly wide   The first half started with Port Vale on the front foot and Ryan Burge testing Barry Roche in the first minute of the game.

But from then it became something of a midfield battle with chances at a premium.

Morecambe saw their first glimpse of goal on 21 minutes from a quickly taken corner when Andy Wright drilled a shot straight at Chris Neal.
