Boss praises Williams

31 January 2013

Manager delighted with midfielder's start

MORECAMBE boss Jim Bentley says he is delighted with the impression made by new signing Ryan Williams.

The midfielder, who has scored two goals in three substitute appearances for the Shrimps, added to his growing reputation with a superb free kick goal for the Reserves at Wrexham in midweek, to add to another fine goal at Burton last week in the second team.

The Shrimps' boss said: “He’s done well. We knew about his ability and that is why we were so keen to sign him.

“It's great to see that he’s gone out there and proved what a good player he is. His goal at Plymouth was outstanding, and it was a great bit of skill inside the box against Dagenham at the weekend.

“He scored a great goal for the reserves against Burton at St George’s Park, identical to the one against Plymouth, and only yesterday in the reserves, he’s stuck in a 30-yard free-kick with the last kick of the game.

“It’s important we manage him and give him the information and the platform to prove what a good player he is.

“In time I’m sure he’ll go from strength to strength and get better and better.”
