Boss's view on Boro defeat

18 July 2013

Promising signs despite loss

BOSS Jim Bentley said there were plenty of positive signs despite his side's 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough at the Globe Arena on Tuesday night.
It was the Shrimps' first defeat of the pre season and Bentley said his side benefited greatly from the game.
He said: "It was definitely a good run out against a good Championship side.
"They looked a bit more advanced than Burnley and Blackpool in terms of their fitness and shape and they were excellent opponents with a good shape and some good players.
"But having said that I thought we matched them pretty well in the first half especially and played some really good stuff. We lacked a bit of a clinical touch in the final third and we will on that.
"The main disappointment for me was that we gave a goal away from a set piece again because we weren't doing our jobs. It is something that I think has hit us badly over the past couple of seasons and something I want to stop and we need to make sure we get better at that.''
The Shrimps now face Motherwell on Saturday at the Globe with a 2pm kick off.
