Shrimps set for Saints

26 July 2013

Boss looking forward to weekend

SHRIMPS' boss Jim Bentley says he is looking forward to his side's trip to face Europa League heroes St Johnstone on Saturday.
With just a week to go to the big kick off Bentley feels the game is another vital step towards the news season.

He said: "This season's pre season has probably been the hardest ever really. We will have played three games against teams playing in Europe this year and that is something that has never happened before.

"I thought we gave a fantastic account of ourselves against Wigan and it was only a goal of real quality from a player who has changed hands for millions of pounds that made the difference on the night.

"Wigan brought a full strength side and started with the team that could start the season for them but we made them work really hard and there was some excellent football throughout.''

After the drama and excitement of last night's Europa League tie, Saints are back in action tomorrow and we are set to welcome guests from south of the border in the shape of League Two Morecambe FC.

St Johnstone come into this weekend's game on the back of their superb Europa League success over Rosenborg and will be likely to include former Shrimps' midfielder Gary McDonald in their line up.

Cash admission is £10 for adults and £5 concessions. The Muirton Suite will be open and supporters of both clubs are welcome.

Morecambe fans are asked to enter at turnstile 6.
