Superb new qualification open to 16-18 year-olds
Morecambe FC is looking for youngsters to enrol on an exciting new Futsal course.
The Shrimps are playing host to the two year course which starts in September for youngsters aged between 16 and 18.
All participants will complete a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma which is the equivalent of up to 3 A Levels and will to ensure students have the progression to either further study or employment after completing the programme.
All you need to get on the course is four GCSEs at grade C or above
Janet Preston, the Shrimps' Community Manager, said: "The course is a high quality education programme which is designed to complement the Futsal side of the project to ensure students get the best education possible whilst representing Morecambe FC.
"We are delighted to be able to host a course like this and are excited about the development of Futsal within the local area.
“The course is a great opportunity for players to develop their skills and their qualifications to work in the sports industry while training and competing in a professional Futsal environment and representing your local professional club.”
Many of the world’s footballers have grown up playing Futsal.
Many greats from the 11-a-side game such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinadine Zidane and Pele attribute the development of their skills to Futsal.
Extensively televised international competitions such as the Futsal World Cup and UEFA Futsal Cup allow players to showcase their talents on a global scale and ensure that Futsal is here to stay as part of the fabric of football.
Futsal is the only form of indoor football approved by FIFA, UEFA and the FA. With over two million players regularly participating in fast-paced 5-a-side action that rewards good technique and game intelligence, Futsal is globally recognised as one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the world.

The Shrimps have entered into a league playing the likes of Manchester City, Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood Town, Burnley, Tranmere Rovers, Rochdale, Bolton Wanderers, Carlisle United and Blackpool.
They will also take part in the National Cup where winners go on to represent England in European competition.
