Wolves game to be televised

20 June 2013

Capital one clash to be featured live on Sky

OFFICIALS of Morecambe FC say they are delighted that their Capital One Cup first round clash with Wolves at the Globe Arena is to be televised live on Sky TV.

The game, which is to be played on Tuesday, August 6th, will see the Shrimps meet the former League Cup winners for the second time with Jim Bentley's side hopeful of a repeat of their famous win at Molyneux in 2008.

Shrimps' Chairman, Peter McGuigan, said he was delighted to see the game chosen to be featured on TV.

He said: "It is a huge boost for the club. It was a fantastic draw for the club and the supporters and to secure TV coverage is an added bonus.

"We know from our televised FA Cup game with Sheffield Wednesday a couple of seasons ago that the cameras make the game even more special. It is great publicity for the club and its supporters and also for the town.''

Mr McGuigan also said the fact that Wolves are one of the founding members of the Football League and playing a major part in the league's 125th anniversary adds extra sheen to the occasion.

He said: "This is a special season for the Football League and Wolves are one of the teams that have made the league so special.

"It is fantastic to be meeting that at a time of such celebration.''

Further details about ticket prices will be announced shortly on the club's website
