Redshaw earns Shrimps late point

JACK Redshaw scored his 16th goal of the season with a 93rd minute header giving the Shrimps a dramatic point at the Kassam Stadium.

The in form striker was forced to sit most of the game on the bench after not training for much of the week with an injury. But even despite not being 100% he made an impact as he headed home a superb Robbie Threlfall corner which home keeper Luke McCormick failed to clear.

The home side looked set to take the three points with a goal from Alfie Potter on the hour after he beat Chris McCready in the box and produced a final shot that beat Barry Roche.

Oxford went close to adding second moments later when Sean Rigg was through on goal but saw his final shot saved by Roche.

The home side started the better with Tom Craddock twice failing to find the target from good openings and Potter flicking a header wide.

Morecambe then began to find their feet and almost took a shock lead on 38 minutes when Stewart Drummond’s header from Lewis Alessandra’s corner was cleared off the line by Potter.
