Late goal robs Shrimps of victory

A late goal robbed Stewart Drummond's Reserves of victory on Wednesday afternoon.

In the opening half, it was the visitors who rained efforts in on the home goal, but they either fired off target or found Louis Gray in fine form, with the youngster turning away a series of goal bound efforts.

It was the visitors who took the lead early in the second half as a Jordan Burrow headed back across the face of the Wrexham goal and former Reds man Andy Fleming was quickest to react, stabbing the ball home from six yards out.

Wrexham hit back and had a number of chances to score but Bradley Reid, Jamie Morton and Jay Colbeck all passed up opportunities to get on the score sheet.

But Morecambe always threatened but were denied on several occasions by Gray. The Shrimps were denied victory when Jay Colbeck unleashed a swerving effort from distance on 87 minutes which gave Andreas Arestidou no chance of stopping.

Wrexham Res: Louis Gray, Ross Ankers (Aaron Simpson 76), Ross White, Kyle Parle, Sean Smith; Jay Colbeck, Jamie Morton, Robbie Evans (Iwan Cartwright 72); Paul Carney, Jonathan Royle, Bradley Reid (Chris Clarke 65).
