Final defeat for Under 17s

5 May 2013

Warrington Town U17s 3, Morecambe 1

THE Shrimps' youngsters went down to a 3-1 defeat against Warrington in the first of two cup finals for the side this week.
Three second half goals gave Warrington the edge before a late consolation from Shrimps' centre half Ibrihim Baba-Conteh finalised the scoring.
In a game played at Burscough FC the Shrimps never reached their full potential and failed to find their normal fluidity on a hard, bobbling pitch.
Manager, Dick Danson said: "The surface just didn't suit our style of play and we couldn't get going.
"Warrington's team was made up of lads a year older than ours and their strength was important on the day and proved to be the difference between the two sides.
"The lads have been brilliant this season so far and they deserve some success and I hope they can pick themselves up for their next final next week.''
Morecambe now face a second final next Sunday when they meet Ashton Town at Atherton Collieries FC, kick off 2.30pm.

MORECAMBE: Johnson, Colebourn, Baba-Conteh, Bowman, Hudson, Suthers, Houghton, Akande, Watson, Wearing, Muscart. Subs: Cape, Dowling, Newby, Green, Towers.
