May.th“We’re On Our Way to Wembley!” is based on the classic “Camptown Races, with new lyrics written to mark the school’s football team’s appearance on the hallowed Wembley Stadium turf, representing Morecambe FC in the npower Football League Kids’ Cup on Saturday 18
The pupils’ performance will be filmed and the special CD/DVD released in time for the trip to London with proceeds from its sale going to the school’s nominated local charity, Unique Kidz.
St Luke’s are representing Morecambe in the npower Football League Kids’ Cup final having triumphed against school teams from across the country who were also representing other League 2 clubs.
Over 1,780 schools enter the npower Football League Kids’ Cup every year with a final for each of the three leagues which mirror the three divisions of the adult Football League. They will play Minterne Junior School, presenting Gillingham, in the national under 11’s Kids’ Cup final, which is played at Wembley prior to the League 2 play-off final.
The team are feeling confident, having already received a special coaching session from former England football star Gareth Southgate.
The Bay’s Managing Director Bill Johnston commented: “This is a tremendous achievement for St Luke’s and The Bay wanted to mark their historic visit to Wembley by giving them a song that they could also use as their anthem on the day. The lyrics have been especially written for them’’
