Jim backs his side to improve

BOSS Jim Bentley says his side are determined to get back to winning ways at home to York on Tuesday night after their fourth defeat in five games at Oxford on Saturday.

Bentley admitted the Shrimps were in the middle of a disappointing run of results but has backed his side to turn the corner sooner rather than later.

He said: "We are in the middle of a bad run which happens to every club at every level. You can go unbeaten for long periods, which we did, and then you can go on a sticky spell, which we are doing. But things can change very quickly in football and we are looking forward to getting back in front of our home fan and getting back to winning ways. Everyone is hurting from the recent defeats but we have a chance to out things right tonight and we are all determined to do that.

"If you look at the scoreline on Saturday it looks like we were comprehensively beaten but overall I thought we played pretty well for long periods and created some good chances but made vital mistakes in vital areas and to give Oxford credit they took advantage of our mistakes and punished us and they won the game. We have to make sure we cut those errors out and make sure we get harder to play against.

"We are short of a couple of bodies on Tuesday with suspensions but where one door closes another opens and that fact gives the others a chance to show what they can do and try and impress. Everyone who steps over the white line will have to show their mettle.''
