Entertaining draw at the Globe

THESE two Roses rivals had to settle for a share of the spoils after an entertaining goalless draw at the Globe Arena.
Both sides had chances to take maximum points but a mixture of good goalkeeping and shocking finishing saw the game end blank.
Morecambe went closest to taking the victory when they went close twice in quick succession midway through the first half when Nick Pope saved superbly from Padraig Amond’s close range header and Keith Lowe cleared Alex Kenyton’s follow up off the line.
At the other end Morecambe keeper Barry Roche produced stunning blocks from Ryan Jarvis and Lewis Montrose. The first came from a close range header on 11 minutes, the second coming after Wes Fletcher had played in the York midfielder 10 minutes before the break.
The second half saw Stewart Drummond miss three great chances for the home side while at the other end Lanre Oyebanjo failed to get the finishing touch to a dangerous Ben Davies cross.
Oyebanjo was also denied by another excellent Roche save low to his left from a header before Jack Sampson brought the best out of Pope with a shot from the edge of the area that was heading for the bottom left hand corner.
