Fine win for second team

MARCUS Marshall continued his comeback with a goal in the Reserves' fine 3-1 victory against Oldham at Chapel Road in Central League, West Division.

It was an excellent performance from Stewart Drummond's side who included the returning Marshall alongside Chris McCready, who was back in action after his recent shoulder injury.

Morecambe took the lead midway through the opening half when Joe Mwasile rifled home a shot from 25 yards.

Latics quickly equalised through an excellent header from first-year scholar Ryan Ellison, brother of Shrimps' star Kevin, following a corner,

Morecambe regained the lead just after the hour mark after a bout of head tennis in the box as Marshall's effort looped over keeper Paul Rachubka.

The Shrimps dominated the latter stages as Mwasile's drive struck the crossbar and he shot just wide with another effort.

Their efforts were rewarded with a third goal in stoppage time. The home defence was undone by a long through ball and young striker Tom Woods raced through and rounded Rachubka to slot into an empty net.

MORECAMBE: Arestidou, McGowan, Hudson, Bowman, McCready, McGee, Mwasile, Kenyon, Woods, Bell, Marshall. Subs: Cape, Newby, Doyle, Colbourne, Watson.
