Boss delighted with new deal for himself and Ken McKenna

Jim Bentley, and his assistant Ken McKenna, have agreed new deals that will keep them at the Globe Arena until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The Shrimps’ boss, who is now in his third full season in charge, said he was delighted to sign the extension to his current deal which expires at the end of this season.

He said: “I have been at Morecambe for more than 10 years and it is a place that is close to my heart.

“I have enjoyed my last two years in management and I feel we are progressing both on and off the pitch.

“Kenny and myself are working really hard and no-one could be more determined to make this a success than the pair of us. Between us we are working hard on doing the right things in relation to players, developing a training ground and developing a youth system.

“It doesn’t just happen overnight at a club like ours so we have to go about things the right way and everyone at this club is determined to see us develop even further over the next few years.

“We are already seeing the positive changes and the rewards of everyone’s hard work and we are determined to make sure that continues over the next few years.’’

Shrimps’ Director responsible for all contract negotiations, Mark Mace, said: “Jim’s contract was up at the end of this season and there was never any doubt that we wanted him and Kenny to continue to do the excellent job they are doing.

“When we look at what good looks like for Morecambe Football Club it involves Jim at the heart of everything.

“He has the qualities we need at this club. He has an amazing desire to succeed and galvanises everyone around  him. He knows the club inside out and has done a fantastic job and it was a very easy decision for us.’’
