Shrimps out of county cup

THE Shrimps bowed out of the Lancashire Senior Cup with defeat at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.
A young side started the game in style by taking the lead in the fifth minute through Tom Woods.
But the Clarets soon hit back and scored three first half goals to take a clear advantage into the second half.
Then home side were soon level when summer signing Ryan Noble slotted home from six yards after trialist, Evans cleverly beat his man and found the cross.
Moments later Burnley took the lead when the trialist again found space to pick out Steven Hewitt who couldn’t miss from close range. The goals didn’t look like stopping as the impressive Jamie Frost made it three, again from short distance in the 35th minute.
It wasn’t before long  in the second half for Burnley to find the fourth, Frost neatly found Noble with a chipped pass and the former Sunderland youngster helped himself to his second of the night with a sweet strike just outside the area in the 47th minute.
Burnley continued to enjoy the possession in the second half, and could have increased the deficit after having a couple of chances just miss the target including a fierce 30-yard effort from Luke Gallagher which just whistled over the crossbar.
