Shrimps shock Shakers

MORECAMBE’S excellent run of form continued with a solid victory at Gigg Lane.
The Shrimps extended their unbeaten run to eight games with another excellent away performance.
Ryan Willams gave Jim Bentley’s side the advantage with a superb 63rd minute free kick.
After Nathan Cameron had fouled Jack Sampson the dead ball specialist curled a superb right foot effort past Brian Jensen with a shot that gave the home keeper no chance.
The Shrimps doubled their lead four minutes into injury time when substitute Tony Diagne scored his first goal for the Shrimps with a well struck shot from an acute angle that darted into the left hand corner of Jensen’s goal.
Bury had the better of the few chances produced in the first half.
The Shakers’ top scorer Anton Forrester had the best of these on 38 minutes with a free header on 38 minutes from close range that was directed straight at Barry Roche.
The Morecambe keeper had to react sharply three minutes later when former Shrimps’ loanee Jordan Mustoe dent in a stinging shot from 25 yards that Roche palmed to safety.
At the other end Morecambe’s best chance came on 13 minutes when Kevin Ellison played in Padraig Amond behind the Bury defence but experienced former Burnley keeper Jenson stood tall and saved well.
The Shrimps started the second half well with Sampson forcing Jensen into a good save low to his right before the home side hit back with Roche making smart saves from Anton Forrester and Tommy Miller.
