North West Football Awards shortlist for team
Morecambe Community Sports have been selected as finalists in two categories of the Northwest Football Awards 2013.
In the ‘Community Initiative of the Year’ category, Morecambe Community Sports has been chosen for its highly successful ‘Lifestyles’ project.
This innovative scheme has encouraged uptake of health checks and advice on exercise for adults in the local community who don’t usually access this type of support.
The project involves working with the football club, health and community groups, plus local businesses.
Morecambe Community Sports has also been selected as finalists in the ‘Community Club of the Year’ category. This recognises the range of work undertaken within the local community supporting education, health, social inclusion and sports participation.
Janet Preston of Morecambe Community Sports said: “We are thrilled to be shortlisted in two categories. When you consider that we are finalists alongside the likes of Manchester City, Everton and Blackburn, it shows just how much we have achieved and the high standard of the work we deliver.”
The prestigious awards ceremony takes place at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) on Monday 4th November.
