Reserves pick up first point
MORECAMBE Reserves picked up their first point of the season with a hard fought draw at Tranmere Rovers this afternoon.
In an entertaining game that could have gone either way a young Shrimps side had to come from behind to deservedly share the spoils.
Liam Davies gave Tranmere the lead as the second year youth scholar found the net with a left foot strike from the edge of the area early in the first half.
But Morecambe were always well in the game and had chances themselves with Tom Woods hitting a post and Joe Mwasile going close when put through in goal.
Davies missed a chance to double the lead after half time but at the other end Tranmere keeper Sam Ramsbottom made a number of fine saves before the Shrimps scored a well earned equaliser with just a few minutes remaining through Declan Watson.
Substitute Alex Naylor helped work the opening as he shared passes with Watson who calmly finished past Ramsbottom.
Tranmere: Ramsbottom, Callum Morris, Sam Sodje (Smith 70), Ant Boland, Jones, Baggie, Shackleton, Jago (Duggan 65), Davies, Stockton, Zephaniah Thomas (Riley 75). Unused substitute: Newton.
Morecambe: Arestidou, McGowan, Doyle, Bell, Bowman, Mwasile, McGee, Williams (rep Newton), Watson, Holness (rep Naylor), Woods.
