Club to announce new directors

SHRIMPS' Chairman Peter McGuigan profiled a number of new initiatives for the club in his programme notes for the game against Mansfield on Saturday.

The Shrimps' chief gave an update on the recent visit by a party from China, the launch of a new Presidents Club and the impending appointment of some new directors to the board.

Mr McGuigan wrote:

"There has been a lot of off field activity taking place at the Club during the last few months and I would like to update you on progress so far:

Chinese Delegation

As most of you are aware, we had 12 delegates from Shanghai who visited the club for a few days recently to review our coaching methods, our Youth Development scheme and our Community work.

The delegation were extremely impressed with our set up, facilities and skill set of our staff. So much so that we have agreed in principle to form a joint venture whereby we will exchange ideas and plans on the points mentioned above.  Young players from their team and academy will spend time at Morecambe to enhance their skills as will their coaching staff.  We are also exploring investment opportunities and we hope to conclude this during the next few weeks.

Presidents' Club

We have agreed to form a President's Club from the start of next season aimed at attracting a membership for two people who have an affinity for both the Club and the Town.  There will be an annual subscription for which all members will receive significant benefits within the Club.  Full details will be made available in the next few weeks.

Directors

We will be announcing next week the appointment of four new Directors to the Board, all of whom have a strong interest in both the Club and the Town.  These appointments will undoubtedly strengthen the Board as we look towards a new era for the Club.  We are actively seeking to attract more sponsors and obviously review every avenue available to us in order to increase our home support.

The above three initiatives are aimed at securing the financial stability of the Club and also allowing us to strengthen both our playing budget and youth development budget which is so important for the future of your Club.''
