Jimbo Hoping For Record Numbers

23 December 2014

Jim Bentley is hoping Shrimps’ fans turn out in record numbers for the Boxing Day clash with Carlisle

The CUMBRIANS are set to being almost 2,000 fans to the Globe Arena after selling out their ticket allocation and Bentley is hoping Morecambe supporters rise to the challenge and help create a lively holiday atmosphere.

Bentley said: “Carlisle have sold out their allocation of 1,770 tickets and I hope our fans respond with good numbers as well.

“Boxing Day is always a pretty special day in the football calendar with big crowds a tradition and I if we can get more than 4.000 at the game, like we are hoping, it is bound to be a terrific atmosphere.

“Those fans who have been at the last two home games have seen us beat Bury and Luton and I’m hoping they will be back on Friday.

“If I could call on any game for the fans to come out it would be Boxing Day against your rivals from just up the road who are bringing a party with them.

“We’ve got to make sure that not just on the pitch we do the business and stand up and try and beat Carlisle, we’ve got to make sure we out sing them off the pitch too.”

Looking ahead to the game he said: “The wins against Bury and Luton have given us a real lift and we need to build on that.

“The pitch is in the best condition it ever has been at this stage of the season which suits us and we need to use it to our advantage and maintain the momentum we have been building up at home.

Three of our next four games are at the Globe and it we can get something from all those games we will be in a good place.

“Carlisle had a good win last weekend over Northampton and will be keen to build on that as well so it won’t be easy but we know what we have to do and what level of performance we need and we will be looking to deliver the goods again on Friday.’’
