McKenna Delighted With Luton Win

15 December 2014

McKenna was left in charge of the side with boss Jim Bentley missing the game through illness & said victory over Luton was one of the best wins of the season

SHRIMPS' Assistant boss Ken McKenna said the victory over Luton was “one of the best wins of the season.''

McKenna, who was left in charge of the side with boss Jim Bentley missing the game through illness, said: “We started the game really well and wanted to put their back four under pressure which we did.

“We got the early goal from a good set piece which gave us a little bit of confidence and then the big game-changer came with Steve McNulty being sent off.

“He’s a key player for them and it made it difficult for them but to be fair they were brave and kept on coming.

“We had to defend but we did that well and with a little bit more quality in the final third we could have scored a couple more.”

McKenna hoped the win would cheer up the Shrimps’ under-the-weather boss and was looking forward to him making a swift return.

He said: “There’s been a bit of a bug flying round with everyone.

“The boss was up all night, his kids have been poorly this week and he’s picked something up.

“He was in a bad way this morning but I hope that’s cheered him up.'
