Boss eyes Devitt extension

Bentley in talks with Chesterfield

BOSS Jim Bentley says he is in talks to extend Jamie Devitt's loan spell at the Globe Arena.

Devitt's loan spell was due to end on Saturday after the Oxford game but the wide man's three match ban for the red card he received on Tuesday night means his original spell has ended.

But Bentley admitted that he had been in talks with Chesterfield boss Paul Cook before the Exeter game and negotiations are continuing.

Bentley said: “We’re hoping to keep him.

“I spoke to Paul Cook on Monday about the situation but obviously now he’s got a three-game ban and it’s going to change things a little bit.

“We’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m going to talk to him (Cook) again today and we’ll see what’s best for both clubs and what’s best for the player.

“He’s got the ban but we’ve got a very busy month next month. We’ve got eight games, one is against Chesterfield, which he wouldn’t be able to play in.

“But we’ll see what’s what.”

One loan deal that has been finalised is one that sees Joe Mwasile’s spell at Altrincham extended until March 18.

Joe has made three starts for Altrincham.
