Boss hopes for Fleming return

Midfielder set for Spotland test

SHRIMPS' boss Jim Bentley is hoping to welcome back Andy Fleming and Mark Hughes to the squad for the trip to Rochdale on Saturday.

Bentley is hoping Andy Fleming and captain Mark Hughes could be available for the trip to Spotland as the Shrimps look for their first league win since Boxing Day.

Fleming’s knee problem is not as bad as first feared and arguably the Shrimps’ player of the year so far is set to return ahead of schedule.

Hughes is also back in contention with Robbie Threlfall set to feature despite going off early on in the defeat against Burton Albion after a nasty clash with Gary Alexander.

Bentley said: “We have had some really good news about Andy Fleming because we were thinking he might need to have an operation but thankfully a scan has revealed it was just severe bruising.

"He's trained this week and he’ll be back in contention with Mark Hughes who’s trained this week.''

Bentley also revealed that Robbie Threlfall should be fit for the game after picking up an early injury which forced him to be substituted early against Burton last Saturday.

With just the suspended Alex Kenyon and injured Marcus Marshall definitely ruled out Bentley says he may have something of a selection headache for the game against one of the league's in-form sides.

He  said: “I may have to disappoint one or two people but it’s a nice headache and we’ll probably make a couple of changes from the Burton game.

“I’d rather have it this way than the team picking itself with five young kids on the bench like it was earlier on in the season.

“Having said that we were winning games then. That’s just football for you.”
