Boss gives Oxford verdict

JIM Bentley said he was proud of his side's efforts as they scored a last gasp goal to earn a point against Oxford.

Robbie Threlfall was credited with the 92nd minute leveller although the boss says he is still not sure who got the final touch.

He said: “I shouted up in the dressing room and I was surprised nobody really claimed it.

“I expected everyone to jump up but nobody really came forward but it  It was just one of those where Barry Roche came up from the back and there’s plenty of bodies around and we’ve loaded the ball in there and had that little bit of luck that we deserve.

“It didn’t look intentional but it’s sneaked in the bottom corner and we’ve got what we deserved.

“I’m a big believer of the harder you work, the luckier you get and to be fair the lads really worked hard today and kept plugging away and got a deserved point.”

He added: “It wasn’t going to be pretty with the pitch but both sets of players went at it and after being disappointed to come in behind at half time we did well in the second half.

“The lads who came off the bench affected the game today which is what we expect of them. It’s not about the 11 it’s about the 18.

“We caused problems and we got what we deserved in the end. It’s good to get onto 40 points because 30 to 40 has been an absolute nightmare for us.”
